Parks is a simple, personal tool for tracking your visits to U.S. National Parks and Monuments. Your privacy is important to us, and we're committed to keeping your data safe and under your control.

• Visit Data: The parks you've visited, visit dates, and any notes you choose to add
• Profile Information: Your display name and avatar (if you use Gravatar)

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to provide the Parks service:

• To maintain your account and authenticate you
• To display your park visits, favorites, and wishlist
• To send essential account emails (verification, password reset)

That's it. We don't analyze your data, build profiles, or use it for any other purpose.

What We Don't Do

• We don't sell your data. Ever. Your information is not for sale.
• We don't use advertising. There are no ads on this site, and we don't share data with advertisers.
• We don't use tracking beacons or analytics. We don't track your behavior across the web or use third-party analytics services.
• We don't share with third parties. Your data stays with us and is never shared, except as required by law.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

• Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text
• All connections to the site use HTTPS encryption
• Database access is restricted and secured

Your Data Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: You can view all your data at any time through your account
• Modify: You can edit or delete any of your visits and notes
• Delete: You can delete your account at any time, which removes all your personal data

Cookies

We use only essential cookies to maintain your login session. These are necessary for the site to function and are deleted when you log out or close your browser (if you don't choose "remember me").

External Services

We use a few external services to make the site work:

• Gravatar: If you have a Gravatar associated with your email, we'll display it. This is handled client-side.
• Map Tiles: Map data is provided by OpenStreetMap and CartoDB. They may see your IP address when loading map tiles.

Changes to This Policy

If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated via email to registered users.
